When a property becomes delinquent in tax payments, the county reclaims the property and auctions. I'm currently using landwatch.com to search for land in my home state of georgia. I used landwatch.com to find my property. If you're looking for 100's of acres then landwatch.

I'm in the stage where i currently homestead vicariously through this sub and other online resources, but www.landwatch.com seems to be a great site for land and such. But other than being careful and doing due diligence landwatch has been a great tool. This advice applies to usa only. Recently i've been finding more on zillow if you're looking for smaller parcels.
